Editorial strategy + philosophy
-
Editing is empathy
Writing well can be hard. A good editor is a partner who makes it a bit easier.
Creating a trustworthy process and communicating well goes a long way.
-
Editing is UX work
Expert editing begins with creating a good end-to-end experience.
From first pitch to promotion, I level up content quality by taking cues from UX principles like consistency and accessibility.
-
Editing is a partnership
As an editor, it’s not my job to rewrite anything.
I’m there as a copilot, supporting the author’s original voice and vision while helping them serve their intended readers.
At Indeed Design,I ran the show
Sourced stories
Managed author relations
Forged external partnerships with channels like A Book Apart, Creative Mornings, and UX Content Collective
Spearheaded social media strategy
Published articles and managed site content through WordPress and GitLab
Tracked site performance data with Google Analytics 4
Collaborated with diverse UX pros on 2 site redesigns
Pioneered colleague volunteer programs for editors, co-writers, and illustrators of all skill levels and roles
Hosted monthly Editorial Board meetings with cross-disciplinary, multi-country members to help shape the publication
2024: Another redesign
The first redesign in 2021 birthed our first-ever dedicated articles page after an intense competitive analysis, including Airbnb and Spotify.
After designs, I migrated 37 articles manually from Medium to our brand new native site. Since then, I’ve grown Indeed’s library to nearly 200 articles.
In 2024, we launched another redesign with improvements to our home and articles pages, and built Indeed’s first-ever public brand guidelines.
I consulted on IA, designed content, supported UX designers and researchers, and aligned with leadership and engineering to sustain this work with my team — delivering a top-tier reading experience.
I even contributed two articles myself by sharing survey results about what it’s like to move into UX and succeed.
Editorial processes
It all begins with an idea.
I give that idea a structure it can thrive on and help it grow.

Contributor programs
In Spring 2022, Indeed Design lost dedicated visual design, illustration, editing, writing, and social media support. I stepped up to bring the UX org together and solve our resourcing program.
By April 2024, I garnered volunteer support from across Indeed’s many global offices — amounting to a total of 74 volunteers in 2023 alone.
See the interest forms put together, and read below how I evangelized the great work my pool of volunteers did at a global Show + Tell meetup.
-
Interested authors submitted through a Google Doc pitch or through a Google form.
-
I developed a program from scratch so anyone from the UX could contribute art for our authors. In total, I managed a team of 8 volunteer illustrators.
-
I also created a program so anyone in the UX org could become a partner editor, supporting the author as they leveled their draft from 1st to 2nd revision. Thanks to my efforts here, I managed a team of 10 volunteer editors.
Advocacy + visibility
In April 2024, I presented to the whole user experience organization — a total of nearly 600 people — about Indeed Design’s work and available opportunities for employees to contribute.
This presentation yielded 7 new contributors and reached 100 employees previously unaware of our services.
